If my previous recipe went under the category sugar-free, yesterday's Friday night snack is the exact opposite; a sweet bomb! But some damn good stuff.. Wonderfully smooth and tasty ice cream made from cream and sweetened condensed milk, flavored with crunchy Oreo cakes, pieces of daim chocolate and dulce de leche. So good that before I had time to take proper photos, it was all gone!
Camilla Hamid and My Kitchen Stories
When I ask if you know about Camilla Hamid, it's a rhetorical question. Of course you do! This amazing woman runs, among other things, the blog My Kitchen Stories and has written several cookbooks. If you are not already reading her blog or following her on social media, I highly recommend it. Anyway, this recipe for homemade ice cream without ice cream machine is a variation of her original one.
Heavenly homemade ice cream without ice cream machine
Making this ice cream is quick and easy. Also, you only need a few ingredients. However, it does need some time in the freeze. It takes about 8 hours before it is frozen.
With just a few ingredients, you make the world's tastiest ice cream without an ice cream machine.
5 dl whipping cream
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 pack of Oreo cookies
150 grams of Marabou milk chocolate Daim
1 can of dulce de leche
Whip the cream. Add 1 can of sweetened condensed milk and whisk a little more. Roughly chop the chocolate and add to the batter. Crumble the cookies and add as well. I like some good sized pieces of both chocolate and cookies, makes it wonderfully crunchy. Finally, add about half the jar of dulce de leche. Using a spatula, gently turn the chocolate, cakes and sauce into the ice cream. Pour the batter into a baking tin or, as I did, into a bowl. Cover the bowl or mold and place it in the freezer for at least 8 hours. Done!
When you have turned the goodies into the ice cream batter, it's time for the freezer. Take it out a while before serving to soften it slightly. You will find the Vass pillow here.
The whole family's favorite ice cream
My plan was to take some nice pictures of the finished ice cream. But I did not have time! Instead, I had to grab a plate before it was all over. We also tried to come up with a good name for it. Crunchy Oreo, daim and caramel ice cream feel a little unnecessarily long. What do you think it should be called?
Damn yummy. Now that would be a good name right?
